A Dream Golf Experience

With the mountains as a stunning backdrop, members enjoy an eminently playable and immaculately maintained 18-hole championship course that features dramatic elevation changes, lightning-fast greens, plenty of Augusta White sand bunkers, and captivating water features.

Adjacent to the championship course is the club’s Short Course, which Palmer designed as the ideal venue for novices and better players who want to refine their skills. The course is relatively short, but requires good pitch shots and solid putting. Golf at Tradition perfectly embodies the charisma, charm, and natural magnetism of its designer. Every tee, green, fairway, and bunker is meticulously manicured to the level of care required to create the purest golf experience — a direct reflection of our appreciation for the game and its traditions.

Members experience the social side of golf through our fun Men’s and Ladies’ Toss-up groups, Spring Twilight Golf, Get Golf Ready programs, Lessons, Clinics, and Demo Days. Our tournaments allow members to enjoy a bit of friendly course competition followed by extraordinary dining experiences. A few of our notable tournaments: Couples’ Wreath of Roses, Losi Cup, Arnold Palmer Pro Am, Kings Crown (Men’s Member/Guest), Talking Rock (Ladies Member/Guest) and many guest days. Our members enjoy creating ‘Traditions Outside of Tradition’, through trips to Ireland and Scotland. These exciting events showcase the warm and friendly culture that makes Tradition Golf Club so special.

The video below showcases the fun and excitement our Members and guests have during the Kings Crown.

Arnie's Design

Arnold Palmer’s extraordinary vision for this majestic setting created one of the finest courses in the world.

The California desert was always a special place for Arnold Palmer. Nowhere else in the world did The King have more success in golf than in the desert, including his five victories in the Bob Hope Desert Classic.

When a special site in La Quinta became available in the mid-1990s, Palmer knew it was a unique opportunity to design a remarkable course. Upon its completion in 1997, Palmer proclaimed Tradition a crown jewel, and explained:

“The majestic setting is so special. The topography is excellent. There are dramatic elevation changes, and I like how many of the holes flow along the base of the mountains. We built a strategic, championship-caliber course which presents a very exciting test of golf. It’s fun and challenging, but it’s not overly challenging. And it’s absolutely beautiful, especially the flowers and water features. It’s the kind of course you never tire of playing. The fairways are reasonably wide, the greens receptive and fast, and the views are spectacular.”
